The article provides the review of Russian and foreign literature on the issues of life quality in connection with health status. It is concluded that investigation of subjective experiences of life quality in people with mental disability has a range of difficulties because of their limited abilities to operate verbal information and to give verbal accounts of their experiences. The modified and re-designed set of diagnostic tools aimed at evaluation of self-appraisal level, experience of inclusion into productive activities etc. in that group of clients is described. The results of empirical research are presented showing that people with mental disability have higher level of different indicators of subjective life quality if they are included into long-term programs of social and art rehabilitation.
